MEETING MINUTES

Minutes of the parish meeting held on 19th November 2024 at St Laurence church, Surfleet.

Present.

 Councillors: Cllrs Alan Tokley (Chairman), Elizabeth Jones, Trevor Wright, Philip Godderidge and Granville Hawkes (Clerk).

1.

Apologies for absence:

Cllrs Lacey and Caulfield, (absent Cllrs Stokes)

Public Forum:

No public members present.

 

 

3.

Approve minutes of the previous meeting October 2024:

These had been circulated, on the proposition of Cllr Jones, seconded by Cllr Wright were agreed by all and signed by the Chairman as a true record.

 

 

4.

Matters arising:

The Clerk reported that the dog poo bags gad been ordered and delivered to Tonic Health.

He will also try again to contact Cllr Stokes for an update.

Highway matters:

The 30mph signs need moving to reflect recent building of new houses on Reservoir Road.

6.

Cemetery matters

The dead tree still needs to be removed, as per the Sterma quotation.

The area is currently mole free.

The Clerk will review the grass cutting tender in early 2025.

Finance report:

The Clerk reported the following cheques for issue, which members agreed,

The 2025-26 budget and precept recommendation was circulated to members by the Clerk, on the proposal of Cllr Tokley, seconded by Cllr Wright the precept was set at £140.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8.

Planning:

The Clerk confirmed that planning applications had been circulated and actioned with comments reported to SHDC. The Clerk will contact LCC planning department about the EIA/scoping report for Naylor Farms.

Surfleet graffiti:

Members were aware that this is a problem, the Clerk will be provided with photographs to send to SHDC

Bus shelter damage:

Cllr Wright was thanked for sorting out the damage.

 

 11.

Beacon lantern cage:

Beacon lantern Cllrs Lacey and Godderidge will contact Glynn Waltham

Members reports:

PG – Remembrance day poppies were put up and have been removed. Cllr Wright placed the wreath and both were thanked by the Chairman.

EJ – will attend the Planning training and the Police commissioner meeting.

 

 

13.

Correspondence:

Cllr Tokley presented the Surfleet United charity cheque for £12,000, the Clerk will send a letter of thanks. We have also received a letter from the Trustees requesting that the need for representatives of the parish council to be on the board be removed, the Clerk will contact the Charity Clerk
