MEETING MINUTES

Minutes of the parish meeting held on 9th September 2025 at St Laurence Church, Surfleet.

Present.

 Councillors: Cllrs Alan Tokley (Chairman), Elizabeth Jones, James Lacey, Paddy Caulfield, Stephen Walker and Granville Hawkes (Clerk).

Public Forum:

No members present

 

 

3.

Approve minutes of the previous meeting June 2025:

The minutes had been circulated before the meeting, on the proposition of Cllr Lacey seconded by Cllr Tokley were agreed by all and signed by the Chairman as a true record.

 

 

4.

Matters arising:

Members agreed for the annual flailing of the river bank to be booked in early October, a quotation will be obtained.

The Bus shelters need repair and repainting and a price will be obtained.

 

 

5.

Highway matters:

No new issues members agreed for Cllr Lacey to be responsible for Highways issues.

 

 

 

6.

Cemetery matters

The dead tree has been removed, members agreed for the Clerk to query the Sterma invoice with Cllr Godderidge.

A letter was received from Mr Lewis seeking an increase in the grass cutting contract up to £4,000 per annum, as the contract is due to be reviewed this was agreed by members but an invitation to tender will be sent out by the Clerk.

Finance report:

The Clerk reported the following cheques for issue, which members agreed,

8.

Planning:

The Clerk confirmed that planning applications had been circulated and actioned with comments reported to SHDC.

 

 

9.

Pylon consultations:

Cllrs Walker & Jones had attended the latest consultation and it is clear that no final route for the cables have been agreed.

 

 

10.

Members reports:

JL – the public footpath running alongside the A16 needs cutting and consideration given to installing a handrail down the steps.

SW – gave a brief update on the devolution proposals.

AT – may need to update batteries for the SID.
